Although Mason Greenwood was acquitted by the court after being accused of abusing his girlfriend. However, after internal consultation, Man Utd still decided to remove the young English striker from the plan and push Greenwood to Getafe on loan.
In an exclusive interview with Marca, Getafe coach Jose Bordalas was asked how the club was able to sign Greenwood. The 59 year old captain replied:
“A friend called me to tell me about this ability and at first we thought it wasn’t real, but Greenwood confirmed it was. There have been conversations, he has other abilities to play with in Serie A, but there were many clubs that did not dare to recruit Greenwood because of what happened. Finally, with a lot of effort and difficulty, we all convinced him to come to Getafe.”
Here, Greenwood has integrated into the new environment and become a key factor in the club’s attack. After 15 appearances, he contributed 5 goals and 4 assists to help the home team gain a safe position in La Liga.
