Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been working with a fitness expert in Spain in order to recover from his foot injury as quickly as possible
The striker faces a race against time to recover from a bone stress injury in his foot before City flew out to Saudi Arabia for the Club World Cup. And he has sought the help of Lebanese fitness expert John Haddad, who calls himself ‘The Fix’. Haaland has been working with Haddad in Spain over the past week, according to The Telegraph.
Haaland sustained the foot injury in the 1-0 defeat by Aston Villa, missing City’s next three games against Luton, Red Star Belgrade and Crystal Palace. But he is determined to be back for the Club World Cup, with City vying to be crowned world champions for the first time ever.
Haaland has worked with Haddad, who the Norwegian media refer to as ‘Miracle Man’, on several occasions since suffering from a hip injury while with Borussia Dortmund in 2020. He traveled to Spain alongside City physio Mario Pafundi, who also accompanies the Norwegian on international duty. Haddad is a biomechanics expert who also owns a company that produces the special glasses Haaland uses while sleeping to block out light.
City will fly out to Saudi Arabia after the match with Crystal Palace. They face Urawa Reds on Tuesday in the Club World Cup semi-final although Haaland is unlikely to be able to play in that game. He will instead be setting his sights on the final – as long as City make it through – next Friday against either Al Ahly or Fluminense.
