Manchester United are eyeing a shock move for Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips in January.
The England international is preparing to leave Man City in the upcoming January transfer window after Pep Guardiola made it clear that the midfielder will not be a regular part of his squad. The Sun now reports that Man United are monitoring Phillips’ situation and could make a shock move for the England star in January.
The site reports that the former Leeds man could be loaned out in January and then officially leave in the summer. Erik ten Hag is said to like this player so he wants to recruit him.
The 28-year-old has only appeared in eight matches in all competitions this season and has 215 minutes on the field. He only appeared in Guardiola’s starting lineup once, which was against Newcastle in the third round of the League Cup.
The Red Devils must strengthen their midfield in the near future because the contract with Sofyan Amrabat does not bring much value to the team. They are also considering selling Casemiro and Christian Eriksen as both players received offers from Saudi Arabia.
