Real Madrid have reported decided to make one final offer to Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe where they will set a 15-day deadline for the 2018 World Cup winner to make a decision on his future.
Defensa Central, a Spanish news outlet, reported on Friday that Mbappe’s camp doesn’t fear Los Blancos’ deadline as they continue to maintain their operations on a day-to-day basis.
The camp doesn’t want to make a decision this early when there are still seven months left in the Frenchman’s contract.
Mbappe didn’t extend his contract with the French club and he will be free to negotiate with any teams he wants from January 1 as his current deal ends in June 2024.
Taking advantage of this, Madrid, who has been after the 2018 World Cup winner since his AS Monaco days, had decided to make one last offer to the 24-year-old and give him 15 days to respond, reported AS Diario earlier this week .
Madrid will not accept any answer other than a signature on the contract from the PSG star as they have no intention of dragging this deal for six months when it can be done in 15 days.
If Mbappe delays or rejects Madrid’s offer, the Whites will quickly turn their focus on other targets namely Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who the club sees as an ideal to lead the club’s forward line for the next few years.
Haaland, who won the treble with Man City this year, dreams of playing for Real Madrid and reported told his entourage to not close the doors on a potential move to the Spanish capital.
While their preferred choice remains Mbappe, the management at the club likes Haaland too as he is a natural number 9 who would fit in perfectly with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes.
It is worth mentioning that during the last summer transfer, things got intense between Mbappe and PSG to the point that the forward was excluded from the club’s pre-season tour to Asia and was also forced to train with “unwanted players”.
However, after a series of talks with the PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the strained relations between the two parties were finally restored and Mbappe has been leading the club as its captain under the guidance of new head coach, Luis Enrique.
