Journalist Fabrizio Romano said Man Utd has extended the contract of young talent Kobbie Mainoo until 2028.
Kobbie Mainoo was just promoted to Man Utd’s first team this season. He played very prominently in the pre-season but unfortunately suffered an injury afterwards. Until recently, the 2005 midfielder returned to Erik Ten Hag’s squad.
Mainoo played well against Everton, with a classic save on the goal line. Mainoo’s outstanding maturity caused Man Utd’s Board of Directors to immediately consider a plan to tie him down long-term.
Specifically, journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on Twitter: “Man Utd has included a clause in Kobbie Mainoo’s current contract to extend until June 2028 – a clause that is effective from the club’s side.”
“Man Utd believe that Mainoo will be an exceptionally reliable talent for the present and the future – salary increases and new contracts could also be a topic (for discussion) in 2024.”
Also according to Romano, in addition to Manchester City, a series of big clubs across Europe are keeping an eye on Mainoo’s situation. The early renewal with this player is a master move by the Red Devils.
