Manchester United remains in the market for fresh striking options to arrive at Old Trafford and new faces could arrive next month when the January transfer window opens.
United brought in young star Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta over the summer as Erik ten Hag’s side sought to bolster their striking options and take the pressure off last season’s top scorer Marcus Rashford.
The 20-year-old Dane has scored five times for United so far, although all of these have come in the Champions League and he is yet to net his first goal in the Premier League.
United had been linked with a move for Harry Kane in the summer, but the England skipper ended up moving to German giants Bayern Munich after finally leaving Tottenham Hotspur.
en Hag’s side have struggled at times for goals this season, with Hojlund and captain Bruno Fernandes joint top scorers as things stand with five goals each.
Rashford netted 30 goals last season with his best goalscoring campaign so far in his career, but the England striker has netted just twice so far and has struggled to hit the heights of the 2022/23 season.
It is therefore no surprise to see that the Old Trafford club linked with fresh striking reinforcements in a bid to add more firepower to their ranks.
And the latest name linked to the Old Trafford club is quite the prospect, having outscored the goal machines which are PSG’s Kylian Mbappe and Manchester City’s Erling Haaland so far this campaign.
According to German publication Bild, Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy “feels flattered” by interest from United in his services ahead of the January transfer window.
Ten Hag’s side and Newcastle United are reported to be two Premier League sides who are interested in the 27-year-old, though neither English team has yet spoken with the German outfit about a move, with a £15m transfer fee being reported.
It has been a brilliant season so far for the Guinea international, having scored 16 goals in all competitions for Stuttgart this season.
Only Kane (18) has scored more league goals this season than Guirassy in Europe’s top five leagues.
Speaking recently, Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness admitted a move away for the striker cannot be ruled out in January, despite clear hopes to keep him.
He said: “In football you can never exclude anything, so I won’t do that here either.
“I think he feels really comfortable. Of course, I hope he stays with us for a long time, just has a good time with us.
“But with him and with the others, it is never possible to exclude things.”
