Man Utd has a trip to Goodison Park to meet Everton in round 13 of the Premier League. The away team was greeted with boos from the home team’s fans as a protest against Everton’s 10-point deduction by the Organizing Committee for violating financial fair play laws.
The rowdy crowd on the field quickly had to quiet down after midfielder Alejandro Garnacho’s “kickback” at the beginning of the match after a cross from the right wing by defender Diogo Dalot.
Garnacho’s thunderous shot did not give goalkeeper Jordan Pickford any chance to save. His flying phase just seemed to make the goal more beautiful. This goal is compared to Man Utd legend Wayne Rooney scoring against Man City in the derby match of the 2010-2011 season.
“I can’t believe he did this, even I didn’t believe it myself” – Gary Neville expressed emotion on Sky Sport about Garnacho’s masterpiece.
“I don’t think one day anyone will be able to recreate a shot like Wayne Rooney’s in the Manchester derby.
This is truly unbelievable. Truly magical, this goal is like magic.”
Even the legendary Rio Ferdinand commented: “Thank you Garnacho. This will be the goal of the year.”
“It’s unbelievable. We all witnessed a masterpiece” – former Man Utd captain Roy Kean praised the above ball.
