Jeremy Doku stole the show with one goal and four assists in Man City’s 6-1 win over Bournemouth, but Pep Guardiola said Bernardo reminded him of Lionel Messi for his second goal; Guardiola also gave an update on Erling Haaland’s injury
Bernardo scored in either half as City ran out 6-1 winners over Bournemouth – in a match where Jeremy Doku scored once and assisted four times.
The Portuguese midfielder’s first goal saw him score from the first of Doku’s four assists, before chipping Bournemouth goalkeeper Ionut Radu with a superb chip for the second.
Asked if Silva is one of the best players in the Premier League or Europe, Guardiola told BBC Sport: “In the world. I said that many times.
“Maybe that’s too much of a compliment to him! But he deserves it.”
As well as his goal and four assists, Doku – meanwhile – also completed four dribbles – more than the entire Bournemouth team combined on Saturday – though Guardiola hailed his decision-making as the most impressive aspect he has seen from the young winger.
