After four consecutive silent matches in the Premier League, striker Erling Haaland scored again, with a double to help Norway win 4-0 at Cyprus in round six of Group A in Euro 2024 qualifying.
At AEK ARENA, Haaland started and then made way for Jorgen Strand Larsen from the 77th minute. During his time on the field, Man City’s superstar touched the ball 17 times, 8 Accurate Passes, 1 Key Pass, 3 Shots On Target, 3 Aerial Duels Won, 1 Accurate Long Ball but he has 2 goals
In the 65th minute, midfielder Fredrik Aursnes took a corner kick towards Haaland in the far corner. The 23-year-old striker controlled a beat and then volleyed his left foot into the roof of goalkeeper Joel Mall’s net.
He completed the double in the 72nd minute with a close-range header from a cross from substitute Antonio Nusa.
These are Haaland’s fifth and sixth goals respectively in Euro 2024 qualifying, equal to Denmark’s Rasmus Hojlund and Scotland’s Scott McTominay. Romelu Lukaku of Belgium currently leads this statistic with eight goals.
However, three points from this match did not help Norway improve its position. Haaland and his teammates still rank third in Group A with 10 points, two points behind Spain and five points behind Scotland. Norway will rise to second place if they win against Spain in the next round at home at Ullevaal Stadion on October 15.
