Cristiano Ronaldo relentlessly mocked Sergio Ramos after becoming the world’s most followed Instagram account.
Ronaldo reached 600 million Instagram followers earlier this month, making him the most followed athlete on the platform, surpassing Lionel Messi, Selena Gomez, Kylie Jenner, and Dwayne Johnson.
That’s 10 times more than Ramos, a former Real Madrid teammate who celebrated reaching 60 million followers on Wednesday.
On Instagram, he posted a photo of himself signing a pair of boots with the message, “We started in 2014 and – although it seems impossible – we are now 60 million strong.”
“To celebrate this and return some of the love you’ve all shown me, I’ve got a great competition for you: a giveaway of 20 pairs of signed Mizuno boots.”
The Portuguese saw Ramos’ Instagram post and responded in kind in the comments.
In response to the defender’s post commemorating 60 million followers, he replied, “You need another zero to catch me,” accompanied by a smiling face emoji.
Fans seemed to enjoy it, as his comment received over 100,000 likes.
Ramos has been linked with a surprising move to Al Nassr, where he may rejoin with Ronaldo.
He is presently a free agent after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired. He spent two seasons in France, appearing in 58 games and scoring six goals. During his stay in Paris, he won two league titles.
Of course, the Spaniard spent 16 trophy-laden seasons at Real Madrid, earning four Champions League titles among other honors.
Ramos and Ronaldo spent nine years together in Spain, and a reunion in Saudi Arabia is possible.
