In an interview with OLGA media, Messi answered what happened when he arrived at PSG after winning the World Cup.
Messi has consecrated his professional career when he won the Qatar 2022 World Cup with the Argentinian National Team versus France, as the only trophy and achievement that he ever needed to complete his vast collection.
When the Argentinian astro won the World Cup, paradoxically he was playing for Paris Saint Germain (PSG) alongside Kylian Mbappé, and his return to France when the world tournament ended wasn’t the best. He could feel PSG fans’ anger towards him because of winning the World Cup with his national team.
In an interview with OLGA media, Messi was finally asked about his return to Paris after winning Qatar 2022 and how he felt when he was still playing for the parisian club.
“PSG fans booing me? It’s understandable. I was playing for Argentina, we won the World Cup final against France… It was our fault that they had not been world champions again.”, Messi said.
Did he regret playing for PSG?
Migue Granados, the interviewer from OLGA, asked Messi if he would’ve liked not to play in PSG nowadays, after all the hate he received when he returned to France when he won the World Cup.
Before he gave his response, Messi was hesitating and thinking what would he answer, “Well, it went like that, the truth is it is not what I expected, but I always say that things happen for a reason. I wasn’t comfortable there, I was World Champion when I played there (PSG)”.
After Messi’s response, Migue asked what about his relationship with Kylian Mbappé, as they were foes in the final match of Qatar 2022, “My relationship with Mbappé? All was great with Kylian. We had a very good relationship.”
And just right before the topic was about to end, Messi also remembered that he wasn’t the only PSG player to not be recognized for his participation in the World Cup when the whole team returned to the French club, a clear sign for Messi to head out of the team.
