The 18th of September, 2023 in Amsterdam – The special fashion drop devoted to discovering the world of Afrobeats is being released by JBL and Vivendii. Vivendii’s Afrobeats Capsule Collection fuses the brand’s characteristic gradient, tie-dye-inspired aesthetic with JBL’s bright, attention-grabbing hues. It was designed using JBL’s distinctive orange and a nod to the plastic buckets and bowls often used in Nigeria.
The collection includes the usual suspects of streetwear—t-shirts, tracksuits, jackets, and bags—as well as a striped football jersey in tribute to Virgil van Dijk and the growing trend of personalized jerseys. Colorful limited versions of some of JBL’s best-selling products, such the PartyBox 310 and the Charge 5 Wi-Fi, complement the collection’s eye-catching aesthetics.
That decline, why? Music and style are inseparable.” Exploring the music and fashion of Afrobeats with our ambassador and Afrobeats enthusiast, Virgil van Dijk, has been a thrilling experience because of the freedom it gives young people to express themselves. The Vivendii crew actively seeks to spread a message of individual freedom and cultural acceptance via their work. This is a perfect match for JBL since it reflects the company’s core beliefs. According to HARMAN’s Vice President of Integrated Marketing for EMEA, Robert-Jan van Dormael
“It’s all about the way people express themselves,” Vivendii’s Jimmy Ayeni chimed in. Every single collection we’ve ever made has had an accompanying soundtrack, and our work with JBL is no exception. We make an effort to incorporate our musical and aesthetic identities.
In this video discussing their work together, Virgil is joined by Dutch musician Amartey and Nigerian artist Deto Black to go further into the Afrobeats genre, as well as Vivendii founders Jimmy Ayeni and Ola Badiru.\
