Paris Saint-Germain have targeted five Real Madrid players in vengeance for Los Blancos’ offer for Kylian Mbappe, a source has claimed.
Mbappe is still playing for PSG this season, despite a public disagreement with the club following Real Madrid’s interest.
The France international was set to quit PSG this summer after refusing to sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 club.
Mbappe was thus barred from first-team training and did not participate in the club’s pre-season trip.
While the summer window has officially closed and both parties have publicly reconciled, Mbappe’s future remains unknown with less than a year left on his current contract.
Indeed, Real has long been interested in the 24-year-old, and came close to acquiring him in 2022, only for the Frenchman to make a spectacular U-turn and sign with PSG.
According to reports, the crux of this summer’s disagreement was PSG’s belief that Mbappe had already committed to join Real Madrid next summer.
PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is now rumoured to be interested in signing five of Real Madrid’s ‘jewels’ in a tat-for-tat deal.
Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo are PSG’s two main targets, according to OkDiario via Sport, with the latter seen to be the more feasible option.
Meanwhile, the French club is rumored to be interested in Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Federico Valverde, all of whom are targets for Liverpool. Of course, with Marco Verratti poised to join Qatari club Al-Arabi for a fee of £39 million, midfield reinforcements will be welcomed in Paris.
The largest impediment to any trade, though, is reported to be the massive release clauses Real has placed on its most desired athletes.
Vinicius Jr., for example, is rumoured to have signed a deal during the summer with a release clause in the region of £860 million.
This problem would be exacerbated by the fact that Mbappe might leave PSG for free next summer. As a result of his departure, the Parisians would have no money to support any transfers.
