Mbappe will have two powerful new teammates to help PSG aim for the C1 Cup.
The summer of 2023 will be remembered as the transfer period when Chelsea “went crazy”, and Saudi Arabia showed off its money power and the “hotness” of midfielders like Bellingham, Rice, Caicedo, etc. But Paris Saint-Germain is still Among the three teams with the highest spending, they spent up to 350 million euros on troops, a number that would normally be the highest in Europe if not for Chelsea (464 million euros) and Al Hilal (353 million euros).
The PSG players brought in are quite strong: The defense has experienced midfielder Milan Skriniar, World Cup champion Lucas Hernandez and interception specialist Manuel Ugarte, the midfield includes Xavi Simons, former Real Madrid star Marco Asensio, and Korean player Lee Kang In, while the attacking front includes Ousmane Dembele, Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos.
Combined with the available individuals, PSG has a remarkably strong squad, although public opinion in general has lost interest in talking about this team after Lionel Messi and Neymar left. These two South American superstars along with Kylian Mbappe haven’t even helped PSG realize their Champions League dream, so what’s the new face of this team worth discussing?
In fact, with new vitality, maybe the fortunes will change for PSG, they have transferred to a new generation of players of Vitinha, Zaire-Emery, Nuno Mendes, and now the rookies mentioned above. In particular, their attack now has 3 stars of the French team together: Dembele – Kolo Muani – Mbappe, an attack full of mobility and difficult to stop.
Mbappe’s level is unmatched, in the past 5 years we have seen his ability to shine. Dembele was once considered a “bomb” at Barcelona but has recently regained his form, showing his speed and ability to handle techniques with both feet that make opponents very difficult to match. And Kolo Muani rose to stardom in Frankfurt, a striker good in both finishing and creating.
Although PSG bought Ramos, the trio of Dembele – Muani – Mbappe (DMM) will probably take the main kick easily. Kolo Muani moved from a wing striker to the middle and played like a younger version of Karim Benzema, we can imagine Real Madrid’s attack system with Benzema – Vinicius – Rodrygo. Kolo Muani at PSG will play Benzema’s role, but his two teammates on the wing are even scarier than Real Madrid’s two wing strikers.
Of course, coach Luis Enrique still has to create a playing system that suits the whole team, not just the DMM trio. But with the experience of using the trio Messi – Neymar – Suarez in three successful seasons at Barcelona, Enrique may not know that Enrique will create a turning point for PSG in their quest to conquer the Champions League.
