This was the only award that Haaland didn’t win during the PFA Awards ceremony.
Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland scored 36 goals in Premier League last season, breaking the record for most goals during a single PL season. The Manchester City striker went to the PFA Awards ceremony expecting to win all prizes after his amazing first year in English football.
The 23 year-old Norwegian was the most awarded player of the gala as he won the PFA’s Player of the Year award and was also selected by the Professional Footballers Association in England to lead the attack in the PFA’s XI of the Year.
However, despite being nominated in all categories possible, Haaland lost one of the awards of the evening. Another player was selected by the PFA to win the PFA’s Young Player of the Year causing surprise on social media.
The player that beat Haaland as PFA’s Young Player of the Year award winner
Arsenal’s star Bukayo Saka was selected by the PFA as the Young Player of the Year award winner after his amazing season at the ‘gunners’. He was a key player for Mikel Arteta’s team during its Premier League title pursuit. Erling Haaland and Moises Caicedo were also nominated in this category.
