Eduardo Camavinga admitted he would be keen to play alongside his international team-mate Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid.
French captain Mbappe rocked the market after insisting that he would not sign a contract renewal at Paris Saint-Germain, with his current deal up at the end of next season, with the player having been linked with a move to Spain on a number of occasions.
As a result, he could leave the club in 2024 for nothing, which unsurprisingly seems not to align with the club’s plans given the huge fee they could demand for the French forward’s services.
Eduardo Camavinga was unsurprisingly asked about the future of team-mate Kylian Mbappe
France captain Mbappe revealed that he does not plan to sign a new contract at the French side
The 20-year-old admitted that his international team-mates had discussed the news and even teased the PSG forward over it, however he insisted Mbappe was as yet unaffected by the news.
Mbappe and Camavinga are preparing to take on Gibraltar in the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, with the midfielder’s Real team-mate Aurelien Tchouameni also in Didier Deschamps’ squad.
It is unsurprising, given Mbappe’s stature within the game, that most French players would be intrigued where his future lies, although this is not just confined to France seemingly.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with moves for the player this summer as a result of PSG’s growing acceptance that they may have to sell their most prized asset.
After speculation grew around his future, the 24-year-old moved to make his immediate plans clear, writing on Twitter in response to a post by Le Parisien that claimed he wants to join Real.
He posted: ‘LIES… At the same time, the bigger it is, the more it passes. I have already said that I will continue next season at PSG where I am very happy.’
The move will heap pressure on PSG, who are determined not to lose their top asset for nothing and must face up to that prospect if they do not sell him this summer.
Mbappe earlier claimed Paris Saint-Germain have known for almost a year that he had no intention of extending his deal at the club.
Mbappe took to Twitter to dismiss the report from Le Parisien making his thoughts clear
The 24-year-old forward stunned the footballing world on Monday when he informed the club via a letter to say he did not want to exercise the extension clause which would see him contracted until June 2025.
In a bombshell statement to AFP, Mbappe insisted this is not news to those behind the scenes at PSG.
‘PSG has been informed since July 15, 2022, of my decision not to extend beyond 2024, and the letter that was sent only served to confirm what I had already told them,’ he said.
PSG had been willing to give him greater incentives to stay on a long-term deal with plans afoot to recruit more France internationals and create a closer identity with the club’s fan base.
