Midfielder Sergio Ramos recently couldn’t hide his pride when boasting that his Instagram page had just reached 60 million followers. While Ramos was jubilant, he had to receive a comment “laughing with tears” from his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ramos and Ronaldo are no strangers to each other because both have been side by side at the Spanish Royal team for many years. Now Ronaldo has gone to Saudi Arabia to play for Al-Nassr, while Ramos has yet to find a new destination after the end of his contract with PSG.
On his personal Instagram page, Ramos instead of updating information about his next stop recently shared: “Since opening an account in 2014, my Instagram page has a continuously increasing number of followers. While this may sound hard to believe, the reality is that my account’s followers have already reached 60 million.”
Notably, right after Ramos posted the above status line, Ronaldo sent him a humorous and sarcastic message: “You have to add a zero behind to catch up with you”. Accompanied by a smiley teary emoji.
The comment above immediately caused attention when it received nearly 500,000 likes and 15,000 responses. That detail shows how famous the Portuguese super striker born in 1985 is on the internet.
True to the comment on Ramos’ wall, Ronaldo now has more than 600 million followers on Instagram. He is “unmatched” in terms of the number of fans on Instagram, ranking above other celebrities such as Lionel Messi, Selena Gomez, Kylie Jenner, and Dwayne Johnson.
