According to reports in the European media, PSG sought to retaliate against Kylian Mbappe for recently criticizing the team in public.
Mbappe will be sold by the Paris team before the 2023–24 season begins. Additionally, PSG reportedly wants to prevent this striker from participating in preseason workouts. Real Madrid, who are thought to be the front-runners to sign the French captain this summer, can now enter the picture.
Mbappe and PSG’s relationship is becoming more tight. The Paris squad had previously given Mbappe until July 31 to make a decision regarding his future with the club. However, the French striker’s critiques of PSG were “the last drop of water” that led to the breakdown of the alliance between the two parties.
“I don’t believe that being a member of PSG helps much because it is a team full of divisions. Of course, there will always be discussion, but I don’t mind because I understand what I’m doing and how I’m doing it, Mbappe said in a July 8 interview with France Football.
Following this interview, six PSG players allegedly complained to President Nasser Al-Khelaifi about Mbappe’s activities. There are several players at Parc des Princes who no longer wish to support Mbappe.
Former PSG sporting director Leonardo thinks the team has to sell Mbappe as soon as possible: “I think it’s time for Mbappe to depart, whatever happens. PSG was around before Mbappe did. and after this celebrity departs from the club, everything will continue.
