Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Achraf Hakimi this summer – and he’s a player rated highly by Erling Haaland.
It was claimed yesterday that City are prepared to spend big on the Morocco international, who is one of the best full-backs in the game today.
City would not be reluctant to spend a significant amount of money on the 24-year-old.
Kyle Walker has also been linked with an exit from the club, although he could yet extend his contract.
If one or both players depart, then City will need to dip into the transfer market.
And a move for Hakimi would like please Haaland, who has played with Hakimi before.
Erling Haaland is a big of reported Manchester City target Achraf Hakimi
Hakimi currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain, whom he has been with since the summer of 2021.
But Hakimi has previously had a loan spell with Borussia Dortmund.
He joined the Bundesliga outfit in 2018 from Real Madrid and spent two years with them.
Of course at that time, Dortmund had Haaland – and the Norwegian superstar is on record as rating Hakimi very highly.
In October of last year, Haaland said that he was one of two best African players he has ever played with. He said: “I think the best is Achraf Hakimi and Riyad Mahrez.
“They were both high level.”
Achraf Hakimi would be a very exciting signing as previous Haaland comments emerge
There is no doubt about it – Hakimi is one of the world’s best full-backs and would make a brilliant signing for City.
The star is kind of like Walker and Cancelo rolled into one in that, he is physically and technically very good.
He is superb in the final third and as we know, City like to push full-backs very high when they can.
The system has changed in recent months, with Pep Guardiola not really using traditional full-backs.
But if he signed Hakimi, then he would probably play very high on the right.
