When Luna Fenner was born in March 2019 with a rare birthmark, her tale captured the hearts of millions of people.
The infant girl was born with an uncommon birthmark. The “Batman mask”-shaped congenital melanocytic nevus is the result of an anomaly during embryogenesis. Therefore, the enormous birthmark tormented Luna, age 3, and her parents from the time of her birth until a month ago, when a team of skilled oncologists performed surgery in Krasnodar.
“People have often remarked that she is ugly and contagious,” her mother continues, “but she is the most lovely, authentic, and beautiful thing in our lives!” She adds while crying.
Although though the entire cost of Luna’s therapy in Russia is significantly less than in the United States, the Fenner family cannot afford the operations. Then, a miracle occurs: people from all over the world aid and respond to the family, and Luna and her mother travel to Krasnodar just a few months after the Russian physicians’ promise.
Luna Fenner, age 3, has undergone eight operations, including laser and skin, to date. In October, the last procedure was successfully completed. According to the oncologists, Luna handled all the surgeries quite well and was running and jumping barely two hours after receiving anesthetic. The little girl will be able to return to the United States after a few more cosmetic treatments to smooth up her scars.
