There’s not enough money, the drastic measure of Barcelona to be able to sign Messi

Barcelona’s president decided to do it in the press conference of this Thursday.

There’s not enough money, the drastic measure of Barcelona to be able to sign Messi

After almost 24 years of operation of Barça TV, the club’s official television station, as the first source of information on the Barça team, it is on the verge of closing its operations due to the need to have fewer expenses to adjust to the demands of the ‘ LaLiga’s financial fair play.

According to information from ‘RAC1’ this Thursday, as of June 30, when the contract with Telefónica ends, ‘Barça TV’ will close its operations. It will mean the dismissal of 150 people who work at the television station, after a strike took place at the beginning of this year demanding better conditions and an agreement was reached in February with TBSC Barcelona Productions.

In this sense and taking into account economic needs, the Barcelona club has decided not to extend the agreement with the multinational. The decision would have already been communicated to the 150 hired by Barça TV, including hired and collaborators, and it would be completely irreversible. With this measure, the Barcelona entity will save eight million euros a year.

It is one of the many measures that the Board of Directors, led by Joan Laporta, will take to reduce expenses and have a margin with financial ‘fair play’. Discounts are expected in all sectors and sections of the club to be able to go out on the summer transfer market and, among other operations, finalize the return of Lionel Messi as a free agent.

How will Barcelona’s communication continue?

With the decision made to permanently close Barça TV, the club will begin to look for new ways to continue broadcasting its content exclusively. It is understood that the club’s social networks will gain more weight. The next few months will be key to getting an idea of the club’s strategies after saying goodbye to its television station, after almost 24 years on the air.
