Kylian Mbappe asked Chelsea new manager three Premier League questions

Chelsea have agreed a deal to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s next head coach after Todd Boehly sacked Graham Potter earlier this season folllowing a run of poor results

Kylian Mbappe asked Mauricio Pochettino three Premier League questions amid Chelsea announcement.

Mauricio Pochettino has already revealed discussions he has had with Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe about the Premier League during their time working together in the French capital. The Argentine has agreed a deal to become Chelsea’s next head coach ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, football.london understands.

Pochettino has been out of a job since he left PSG following their Ligue 1 title success back at the end of the 2021/22 season. Todd Boehly had originally considered the 51-year-old to become the Blues’ manager after sacking Thomas Tuchel, but opted for Graham Potter instead.

Now, after weeks of postive negotiations, Pochettino looks set to take charge at Stamford Bridge and will be assisted by Frank Lampard during the handover at the end of the 2022/23 campaign. Chelsea are set to overhaul the squad again this summer and have been linked with the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi.

Pochettino has already lifted the lid on some of the conversations he has had with Mbappe in the past, revealing they talk in three languages — French, English and Spanish — and that the 24-year-old regularly asked him about the Premier League. “Kylian loves football, he loves to talk about football,” Pochettino told The Guardian in 2021.

“He asks about England – how is the game, the mentality and the culture there? He’s only 22 but very mature, confident in his talent and open.

“He can speak French, of course, but also perfect English and Spanish. I speak in English and Spanish with him – more English than Spanish.

“I said to him the other day: ‘I need to practise my French with you, to improve,’ and he said: ‘Sure, but it’s better for me to talk in English.’ He loves to practise different languages.”
