According to Tuttosport [via Sport Witness], the Netherlands international will probably cost roughly €40 million (£34m/$43m), and his future at the San Siro now appears to be seriously in doubt because the team cannot pay his demands for a new deals. Although the summer is still a ways off, it appears that Man Utd may be preparing to make a bid in the upcoming months. It is still unclear if Dumfries will indeed leave Inter.
Dumfries has performed well for Inter and appears to be a good addition for the Red Devils, who would gain from replacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who was recently identified as a player who might be sold this summer. Dumfries’ contract expires in the summer of 2025, and while Inter supporters will be frustrated that they appear unable to afford to keep him, it only makes sense for them to cash in on him now rather than risk losing him to a free transfer.
According to the report, Dumfries is the only current first-team player on Inter Milan’s exit list, and he is expected to leave the team this summer. That’s because he wants to extend his present contract, which is scheduled to expire in June 2025, for €5 million a year. He will be shipped out because the Italian side finds that sum to be too high.
It is likely that Dumfries may exit the club in the coming transfer window, however, his immediate focus will be on winning the Scudetto with Inter. He will be in action later tonight when they take on Lecce at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare.
